A Sore Arm

Uh oh. Arm is aching now from last nights knitting. Thought it was too good to be true. I can't usually knit too long with cotton and there are an awful lot of stitches on the halterneck top. Times like these a circular would have been better me thinks. Never mind, I'll leave it a few days till it's ok then just go slow.

My replacement bamboo Addi's for sock knitting arrived today and I can't wait to try some of this magic loop larky do. But of course I should finish my lovely surf sock first. Decisions, decisions eh. With the needles came another Addi sweet and I gave it a very evil look. I blame its brother for the eye swelling allergy trouble I had the other day. I shall give it to my DH. He has no problem with allergies - lucky him.

My eyes are fine now and the trip to the dentist for a check up was good. I felt really lousy yesterday but feel much chirpier today.

Yesterday I got the new Stitch 'N Bitch Knitter's Design Journal and I'm rather impressed. It's the kind of thing that makes a fabulous pressie but as I have no birthday coming up, I got it myself.

I've also ordered some Denise Needles as a pressie from my DH for completing his tax return. Believe me, after finally completing it they're a well deserved thank you.

Today's pic is a mobile phone cover that I knitted using up some leftover Noro Kureyon. Yes, the phone is hiding inside and keeps my keys from scratching the screen when its in my bag. Very handy.

My arms get so achey after knitting chunky wool. I've only go half a sleeve of Ribbon Twist to go to finish, but I'm too sore. I'm actually interested in the Hike, as a consequence. Is it the gauge or the texture that hurts you?

Linda, I was quite surprised to hear chunky wool gives you trouble. I've been thinking about it today. The only yarns that makes my arm ache are cottons, ie Handknit Cotton, 4 Ply and Denim (the worst as everything is so long - but I LOVE it). Even ASC gives me arm ache if I over do it. I presume its do with the lack of elasticity as your fingers & arms need to work harder. Maybe the weight of cotton also doesn't help. Linen Drape is OK as it has no cotton. I have no problem with Calmer which is of course very light and elastic and Cotton Tape is fine but again it very light. I know a few people that have trouble with chunkys and the large needles and I imagine this is to do with the gauge and the sometimes rather unwieldy large needles. I'm so glad I don't have a problem with chunky yarn - not with the Big Wool I have waiting to be made...... can't wait to hear about Beth though when it's finished. It's a design I've had my eye on for a while! Just a thought - are your needles plastic or wooden? I managed to find some 12mm wooden ones which I prefer to use now.
