It's been a gorgeous few days. Yesterday we drove to North Devon and went to the beach at Westward Ho!, followed by a visit to the yarn shop in Bideford. Well, it would have been rude not to. I only bought a ball of RYC Cashcotton 4 Ply though for yet another pair of socks.
Then we went to the beach at Woolacombe which is totally fab and very beautiful and had a paddle in the sea. I was a very happy bunny. They had some lovely surfing shops so we were in shopping heaven. I managed to find some Animal pale pink suede flip flops that I've been trying to find for ages so was very pleased to find them in my size.
I cast on for my second sock but haven't got too far with that. My halterneck top is going along nicely, but a bit slow. So I thought I'd start on a purse I've been meaning to make for ages. It was really quick to knit and I'm so pleased with it. It's based on the Snapper bag and purse pattern from Rowan 35. I used 4 Ply Cotton instead of Cotton Glace though. As you only need small amounts it's a great way of using up odds and ends. No doubt I'll end up with a few in different colours. They're great for holidays too when all you need is a small purse. The beads are large clear Jaeger ones from MCA Direct who sell them cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. For some reason the pic looks better with the zip open - who knows why?

Your purse looks fab! Glad you had such a great time

I was just thinking about having a simple exchange for those of us wo are nt up to edgy or sock ones. Was thinking a little change purse would be ideal and this looks like just what I had in mind - it's excellent. What do you think of the idea?
Good idea! You could mention it on your blog or the forum? It is a nice easy knit and I thought it would make a nice gift. Have to admit I've never been bit by the exchange or Secret Pal thing. I'm really really crap at doing stuff for anyone else ........ I change my mind like the wind and am so darned fussy it takes all the fun away. It took a real superhuman effort from me just to get the baby socks done! And I knew about that 6 months in advance........ one of my many pecularities I guess :)
